Want to find out some stuff about me? Well, here’s my FACTFILE!

Name, Please

Ella English.

So Where Exactly Did You Grow Up?

In London, England. It’s a busy city with lots of fun things to do. You can ride high in the clouds on the London Eye, have a delicious tea of scones, jam and clotted cream and tiny little cucumber sandwiches at Fortnum and Mason, fly a kite in Regents Park, walk over Tower Bridge and look down through a glass floor and see all the city below you! Can you imagine? And then of course you can take a look at Buckingham Palace, the Queen and her collection of corgis.

Do you know the Queen?

I don’t but I certainly wish I do. She seems like such a lovely lady and I would love to meet her and her corgis one day.

Do you still live there?

Nope. I now live in Baltimore, USA where it is much hotter than England. It rains a lot in England but it never gets too warm.

Who Else Lives in Your House?

Two gray tuxedo cats (brother and sister) called Jasper and Petunia who just like to snuggle and run around the yard and fight each other. And a black and white kitty called Mouse who yowls (or maybe sings) all the time. I have two funny teenagers who also live with me.

How Did You Get Started Writing?

I was always reading as a child. I would read while I was brushing my teeth and while I walked to school. And when I wasn’t reading I was writing. My favorite author was Judy Blume and I wrote a book inspired by here where I was the eldest of six children, living in America. I was sort of like their mom and they were always doing mischievous things like squirting toothpaste all over the ceiling. It is funny that I wrote that book while I was a child in the UK as I now live in the US…it’s almost like I could predict the future! So over the years I wrote many books for adults and children and then I also started doing illustrations. And now I’m sharing some of my best books with you.

Are You Quite Disciplined When It Comes to Writing?

Sometimes. And sometimes if it is nice outside I just want to go for a walk. Or sometimes my cat Mouse makes a terrible mess with the litter tray and I have to clean it up. Or sometimes I just start baking brownies because I find baking very relaxing. And then I eat the brownies and have to clean up the crumbs, and then I forget that I was meant to be writing.

What Hobbies Do You Have?

I love painting and drawing, especially painting animals. I love meeting up with friends, going for walks in the wood, eating chips and cake (not together). I also love Trivia Quizzes although I’m not very good at them (but I’m very enthusiastic). I love petting my purring cats but not wrestling them apart when they’re fighting

Do You Have Anything Else You’d Like To Add?

Oh – is this the end of the factfile?

Yes.

You can ask me more questions by emailing me on my contact form. But before I go, let me introduce my three cats.

This is a portrait I did of Jasper and Petunia, my gray tuxedo cats.

Mouse, my black and white tuxedo cat. This cute and very vocal tuxedo kitty was the inspiration for the Kitty in the City series. She is always cat-er-wailing for my attention! You can also check out her instagram feed:
