Book Review: Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister

My review:

💜💜/5

How Do You Stop a Murder after It’s Already Happened?

There are a couple of things wrong with this book. The first is that the author did not pull me in emotionally, so frankly I did not care what happened to Todd her son, her husband Kelly, or the protagonist, Jen. At the beginning of the book, her son stabs someone and is arrested. Next, his mom enters a time loop and is pulled back in time, attempting to change the narrative to stop the murder in ways such as hiding her son’s knife.

The second thing that doesn’t work is the time travel premise, because now the protagonist moves back in time trying to stop the murder and find out what led up to it. The result: You end up with a hopelessly confusing narrative when you try to tell a story backward. Also, you can’t go back in time to change events. I gave up halfway because ultimately it was too much effort to try to keep up with the convoluted narrative that meandered and didn’t go anywhere.

If you read to the end of this book I would love to have your thoughts on it.
If you haven’t read it let me know what you are currently reading.

It sounds like the book has a poor and confusing storyline. That’s a shame, not for summer reading then!
